Dublin

FULL TIME

November 29, 2024

What’s the Opportunity
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Mobile Apps team within Distilled Engineering, reporting to the Head of Engineering for Done Deal. This role will oversee the development and delivery of Ireland’s most impactful marketplace apps—Daft, Done Deal, and Adverts—used by 1.5 million people monthly, generating 22.9 million sessions across the platforms.

You’ll be accountable for the technology, team performance, and delivering seamless, high-quality app experiences that have earned 200k ratings with an impressive 4.68/5 average score. This is a unique opportunity to shape products that millions of people rely on every day while fostering a high-performing team culture

What will I be doing
  • Partnering with Product, Sales, and Design/UX to define a vision and strategy for your team.
  • Leading the execution of your team’s roadmap and pragmatically solving bumps along the way.
  • Help coordinate delivery priorities, unblock teams, align solutions to our technology strategy and guide new feature development.
  • Leading by example to set a culture of empowerment, accountability, and ownership throughout the engineering team.
  • Monitoring team cadence and efficiency, surfacing operational insights and driving continuous improvements.
  • Developing and mentoring the Engineers on your team, with a focus on career and personal growth.

What skills and experience do I need

  • A track record of 2-3 years in running engineering teams, with experience in leading through ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Proven experience managing i OS or Android teams, with a solid understanding of modern software development practices and architectural principles
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to set clear goals and the right context
  • A results-oriented nature and passion for continuous improvement - of people, processes and technology
  • Successfully recruited and retained great people and championed a team culture of development, growth and technical excellence

What’s it like to work here
You will have the opportunity to work with one of Ireland's fastest growing Internet companies. You will get the chance to create a significant contribution to our strategic direction. Projects are exciting and employees are given wide scope for creativity and innovation

Benefits - what you can expect
  • Our goal is to maintain a culture where people look forward to work – whether in our centrally located office in Dublin or working remotely, which is optional for all employees.
  • We do that by making Distilled a place you'll be listened to and trusted to do your job. Where you can have fun, learn and feel appreciated. And where you get focused career development, growth and progression opportunities.
  • We understand that the tools you have to do your job can make a difference too. So while Mac Books are our standard, we’re happy to get you the equipment you need to do your job.
  • We want you to feel confident that this is the right place for you, your career, your wellbeing and your future.
  • Above all, your health and wellbeing are at the forefront of how we build the business. That means looking after you while you're here and later in life. So you'll receive life insurance, fully-paid healthcare and a 5% contribution towards your pension.
