We provide a range of support services and therapeutic interventions aimed at improving the well-being and quality of life for our members. We are currently seeking a skilled psychotherapist to provide therapeutic services to teenagers, young adults, and parents of autistic children.
Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate psychotherapist to work part-time, providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions, particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy. This role involves working with teenagers, young adults, and parents of children on the autism spectrum, supporting them through various emotional and behavioural challenges.

Job Purpose

This role involves working with teenagers, young adults, and parents of children on the autism spectrum, supporting them through various emotional and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group therapy sessions for teens, young adults, and parents of autistic children.
- Use CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy to support clients in managing anxiety, stress, and other related challenges.
- Develop personalised treatment plans, assess therapeutic needs, and adjust approaches based on ongoing evaluation of progress.
- Provide guidance and emotional support to parents, equipping them with tools to understand and manage their child's needs.
- Maintain detailed client records in compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR) and ethical guidelines.
- Participate in clinical supervision, continuous professional development, and training opportunities provided by GAP.
- Provide reports on client progress to the General Manager when necessary, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and practices.
- Up to date Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Fully accredited membership or working towards full accreditation from a recognised professional body or organisation which is governed by a recognised code of ethics and disciplinary process is required. (i.e. APCP, IACP, ICP, PSI etc.)
- Level 7/8 Degree essential (Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychology or related discipline)
- Level 9 MA in integrative Psychotherapy or CBT preferable
- Contract: Subcontractor (Self-employed) Part-time.
- Significant experience working with teenagers, young adults, and families, particularly parents of children with autism.
- Expertise in delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy.
- In-depth understanding of autism spectrum disorders and associated emotional and behavioural needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both individuals and groups.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of relevant HSE guidelines, Irish mental health legislation, and ethical standards.
- Proficiency in managing a part-time caseload while ensuring continuity of care.
- Additional qualifications or training related to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), family therapy, or trauma-informed care.
- Experience working in community-based or charity organisations.
- Ability to deliver therapy via online platforms if required.
- Part-time, 2-3 days per week.
- Flexibility with working hours is required to meet the needs of the clients, with occasional evening or weekend sessions.
