The Resource Mobilization Manager leads the development and execution of a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy to support the organization's strategic objectives. The Manager is responsible for leading all business development efforts, including identifying funding opportunities, crafting high-quality proposals, and cultivating relationships with donors, including foundations, bilateral/multilateral agencies, corporate partners, and individual donors.
Additionally, the Resource Mobilization Manager will focus on local fundraising strategies, including engaging with corporate partners on sustainability initiatives, donor events, and individual giving strategies.
This role involves building and leading a high-performing team, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation, and closely coordinating with senior management and the global business development team to ensure the country office meets its funding goals.
Required Experience and Education
- A bachelor’s degree in business, international relations, marketing, or other relevant field is required.
- A master’s degree in Business Development, Project Management, Public Relations, Marketing, International Development, or a related field is a plus, but not required
- A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in resource mobilization, grant acquisition, or fundraising, ideally within international development or the corporate social responsibility sector.
- Proven track record in developing and managing relationships with diverse donors, including foundations, institutional, corporate, and individual funding sources, example: USAID, BPRM, AECID, European Union, etc.
- Demonstrated experience in proposal development, grant writing, project budgeting, and donor engagement.
- Previous experience supervising teams and leading medium and long-term strategies for resource mobilization.
Resource Mobilization Strategy
- Lead the design, development, and execution of a country-specific resource mobilization strategy in alignment with the organization's overall business development objectives. With the other senior management team members, monitor local and national fundraising trends.
- Conduct market research, donor mapping, and funding pipeline analysis to identify and pursue strategic funding opportunities, including corporate sponsorships and individual donor campaigns.
- Collaborate with senior management to integrate resource mobilization goals with the country office’s strategic plans and annual budgets.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with corporate partners, identifying opportunities to engage in sustainability initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Represent the organization in local corporate and donor networks, public-private alliances, and fundraising events to enhance visibility and collaboration; foster relationships with new donors.
- Lead the planning and execution of local fundraising initiatives, such as events, donor drives, and corporate giving campaigns, to diversify the funding base and engage new audiences.
- Develop and lead strategies for the acquisition, engagement, and retention of individual donors, ensuring continuous and personalized communication through digital platforms, events, and other donor touchpoints.
- Coordinate and oversee internal and external teams, including call center providers, digital platforms, and F2F activities, ensuring efficient execution of fundraising campaigns across these channels and alignment with donor acquisition and retention goals.
- Explore and lead the implementation of innovative funding models, such as online fundraising platforms, crowdfunding, and partnerships with community-based organizations, focused on both donor acquisition and retention.
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop targeted donor engagement materials, including reports and digital content tailored to corporate and individual donor segments.
- Oversee the proposal development process, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, alignment with organizational standards, and integration with programmatic priorities; contribute to and/or draft proposals as needed.
- Work closely with program and technical teams to develop compelling, evidence-based proposals, ensuring that budgets are realistic and include necessary staffing and resource allocation.
- Encourage co-creation of proposals with strategic partners (e.g., local organizations or government entities) to strengthen proposal relevance and sustainability.
- Build and lead a high-performing resource mobilization team, fostering a collaborative, supportive, and goal-oriented environment.
- Directly supervise two key positions: the Business Development Specialist, who leads proposal development and business strategies, and the Marketing Coordinator, responsible for managing local fundraising and relationships with the private sector.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to team members to strengthen their skills in grant writing, donor engagement, and relationship management. Set performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and encourage a feedback-rich environment to maximize team productivity and alignment with organizational goals.
- Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, where team members share insights and apply lessons learned in real-time.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote a cross-functional understanding of resource mobilization goals and processes, ensuring a unified approach to donor engagement.
- Establish and maintain a knowledge management system to track funding opportunities, proposals, partnerships, and donor engagement activities.
- Encourage the use of data analytics and CRM insights to refine fundraising strategies and donor engagement, identifying trends in donor behavior.
- Lead the development and sharing of knowledge products, including case studies, impact reports, and best practices, to enhance team learning and donor relations.
- Stay up to date on fundraising trends and best practices in both corporate and development sectors, sharing relevant insights to continuously refine strategies.
- Ensure regular monitoring and reporting of business development activities to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Oversee the use of CRM and project management tools (e.g., Salesforce) to document funding activities, donor engagements, and proposal progress.
- Provide guidance on compliance and donor requirements to relevant teams to maintain high-quality, funder-compliant project management and reporting.
- Review and adapt compliance strategies in response to changing donor requirements or regulatory landscapes to maintain relevance, in coordination with the Grants Management Specialist.
- Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.
Required Competencies
- Language Proficiency: The ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English and Spanish is required.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Sharepoint, Teams, Word, Power Point), and a strong knowledge of business development tools, including Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, are required.
- Strategic Leadership: The ability to lead, inspire, and develop a team to meet ambitious fundraising and mobilization goals. Experience overseeing multichannel teams
- Corporate Relationship Building: Skilled in identifying and building strategic partnerships with corporate donors, leveraging opportunities for sponsorships, sustainability initiatives, and corporate social responsibility.
- Fundraising Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of local fundraising tactics, including event planning, individual giving, and donor retention strategies. Experience with online fundraising platforms, digital marketing, and advanced CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, Donor Perfect, etc.) to manage relationships with individual donors.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and achieve targets under pressure.
- Analytical and Data-Driven: Proficient in using data to drive decision-making, particularly in donor mapping, pipeline analysis, and budgeting.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent communicator, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels, presenting proposals, and fostering meaningful donor relationships.
- Adaptability and Innovation: Flexibility to respond to emerging opportunities and challenges in the fundraising landscape, bringing creative and impactful solutions.
