Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the field of 2D material-based plasmonic biosensors

Job description
The selected candidate will carry out research and development of novel optical affinity biosensors exploiting 2D materials to investigate biomolecular interactions and detect biological and chemical species.
Specific tasks and responsibilities include:
- design and development of optical biosensing concepts based on 2D materials, enabling sensitive detection of selected biomolecules,
- investigation of methods for material-specific attachment (e.g., on metal or 2D material) of molecular receptors to the photonic (nano)structures incorporating 2D materials,
- application of developed plasmonic biosensors for the detection of proteins and mi RNAs related to medical diagnostics.
- Ph.D. in physical chemistry, biochemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, chemical engineering or similar,
- strong publication record in a relevant field of life sciences,
- hands-on experience in research of 2D materials is of advantage,
- ability to efficiently communicate with other team members and supervise students,
- good command of written and spoken English,
- experience in the development of assays for the detection of biomolecules is of advantage,
- experience with optical affinity biosensors is of advantage.
- participation in exciting multidisciplinary research projects with a high societal impact,
- work in an international and inclusive research team and institution,
- outstanding research infrastructure, including spectroscopic labs, biosensing labs, cleanroom facilities and chemistry and biochemistry labs with support from professional lab technicians,
- full-time employment with five weeks of vacation and other benefits.
Full-time employment contract for two years (with the possibility of an extension) starting from March 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
