This competition is to fill 1 full-time, permanent position working 75 hours biweekly.
Yukon First Nations are an important partner in the governance of the territory. First Nations’ traditional territories cover almost all the land in Yukon. Our territory is home to a total of 14 distinct First Nations communities. In this endeavor, we humbly recognize and honor the ancestral wisdom of Yukon's original peoples and the expanse of their Traditional Territories that grace the Yukon landscape.
Our department plays a crucial role in delivering a wide range of services and supports that span from early learning to adult education and encompass K-12 schooling. The Superintendent position reports to the Assistant Deputy Minister and is responsible to operational oversight of schools. Success in this role relies on building and maintaining strong relationships with School staff, families, First Nation’s, school councils, and other community partners.

Essential Qualifications:

Please note selection for further consideration will be based on the detailed information you provide in your resume; ensure you use a month/year to month/year format and include the duties you performed in each of your positions

• Eligibility for a Yukon Teaching Certificate.
• A master’s degree in education or a related field.
• Significant educational leadership experience, ideally at both the school and system levels.
• Significant experience in administration, human relations, staff development and strategic planning
• Experience managing the implementation of educational programs and change initiatives.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience may be equally considered.

Additional information
This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

• Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
• Security clearance, including Vulnerable Sector Check

Job Requirement(s):

• Regular travel in and out of the territory, as well as evening and weekend meetings.
