Position Overview
Whit’s Pub, where Cabot Cape Breton meets the community of Inverness, requires a dynamic, experienced team-player to lead the Pub team in a year-round role. Through the golf season (May-October) the Manager will oversee all aspects of the outlet’s operation, while ensuring that it works as a fully-integrated amenity to our world-class golf resort. Serving our guests, catering to large groups, scheduling live nightly music, all while ensuring the business remains actively involved in the busy summer schedule of community events within the community of Inverness.
In the off-season, although the resort will close, the Pub Manager will need to pivot to generate business throughout the winter season by offering food and beverage specials, hosting weekly events, holiday parties, etc. The successful candidate will be able to offer a strategic business plan that can be adjusted and enhanced as needed to ensure the viability of the business, all the while supporting the ongoing off-season efforts of Cabot’s Food & Beverage department in anticipation of the following summer golf season (ordering, hiring, planning, etc.).
You will thrive in this role if you enjoy:
- Strategic Planning: Identifying opportunities to maximize revenue and control costs in a challenging seasonal market. Creating new streams of revenue and enhancing existing offerings with a continued focus on meeting budget and performance targets.
- Hospitality and Customer Service: Enjoy interacting with customers, addressing their needs, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
- Team Leadership: Overseeing and inspiring a team consisting of servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff. Embracing leadership and consistently being a dependable team leader.
- Problem Solving: Finding enjoyment in troubleshooting and maintaining composure in hire pressure environments while resolving customer complaints, navigating staffing concerns, or tackling operational issues.
- Attention to Detail: Paying close attention to the small details, including table settings, menu presentation, and food plating, can have a significant impact on the guest experience.
Preferred qualifications and skills:
- Previous restaurant management experience
- Must be of legal age to serve alcohol in NS (19)
- Serve Right certification (or equivalent) required

- Ability to work flexible hours – weekends, evenings, late-night as required
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Requirements of the role you should be aware of:

- As a seasonal resort business, you can anticipate a schedule that will involve day, evening, night, and weekend work.
- Long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, and crouching while performing other duties is to be expected
