As a Recreation Therapist I, your time will be split between providing services to inpatients awaiting placement and patients in long term care. You will be expected to communicate and collaborate with the patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team regarding the care, opportunities and therapeutic recreation programming provided. In this role you will be supported by the Allied Health Area Manager, and the Recreation Therapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professionals in surrounding areas. You may also need to collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator, as well as community partners to provide effective programming. You will be expected to provide direction and supervision to two Therapy Assistants.

Description:

As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.
