Work environment
Our Current Work Environment:

The Department of Finance Canada is located at 90 Elgin Street, Ottawa, ON. Our hybrid work model is consistent with the Common hybrid work model for the Federal Public Service which requires Departments to establish a minimum attendance requirement of at least 3 days each week onsite. Specific work arrangements should be discussed with the manager at the time of hire.

Intent of the process
The immediate intention of this selection process is to fill one indeterminate position with a bilingual imperative BBB/BBB linguistic profile.

A partially assessed pool may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of Finance.

EDUCATION
Stream 1 (AS-02) & Stream 2 (AS-03):

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE
Stream 1 (AS-02) :

EXP1 – Experience managing, tracking, and reporting on the flow of a high volume of business information.

EXP2 – Experience proofreading and editing various documents such as correspondence, briefing notes or reports
EXP3 – Experience researching and analyzing information from a variety of sources.
EXPERIENCE
Stream 2 (AS-03) :

EXP1 – *Significant experience managing, tracking, and reporting on the flow of a high volume of business information.

EXP2 – *Significant experience proofreading and editing various documents such as correspondence, briefing notes or reports
EXP3 – Experience researching and analyzing information from a variety of sources
EXP4 – Experience preparing memos, briefing materials, various reports, or documents.

  • Significant experience is defined by the depth and breadth of experience that is normally acquired by performing related activities on a full-time basis for a cumulative period of approximately two (2) years or more in a professional environment. The amount, the complexity and the diversity of activities, as well as the autonomy level will be taken into consideration.

A1 – Ability to proofread and exercise quality assurance over written material to identify anomalies, including formatting, grammar, spelling and making changes as required.

A2 – Ability to conduct research, analyze issues and summarize findings.
A3 – Ability to work under pressure, organize workload and set priorities to achieve results within deadlines.
A4 – Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
A5 – Ability to communicate effectively orally.

ASSET EDUCATION
Stream 1 (AS-02) & Stream 2 (AS-03):

A post-secondary diploma in a field related to the position including but not limited to political science, public administration, economics, or business administration.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
Stream 1 (AS-02) & Stream 2 (AS-03):

AEXP1 – Experience in supporting parliamentary operations in an environment such as, but not limited to, a Member of Parliament’s Office, a Senator’s Office, a Minister’s Office, or a Cabinet and Parliamentary Affairs office.

AEXP2 – Experience in preparing or coordinating Parliamentary returns (e.g.: Petitions, Parliamentary Oral and Written Questions, Motions for the Production of Papers).
AEXP3 – Experience in coordinating the tabling of documents in Parliament.
