OSP Field Engineer

We are seeking skilled OSP Field Engineer(s) to ensure the optimal performance of our network infrastructure. As an OSP Field Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring network availability and safeguards for customers through daily tasks and assignments. OSP Field Engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting, providing field service and technical support, as well as project management in telecommunications infrastructure projects.
Requirements:
- Familiarity with Cat 5E, Category 6, Category 6A, fiber optic cabling, and fusion splicing is essential.
- Wireless networking and technical proficiency are required.
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications is necessary.
- A valid Driver's license with a clean driver's abstract and willingness to travel is required.
- The ability to pass a security clearance check is necessary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the organization and business agility is essential.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills are necessary.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify alternative and practical solutions are required.
- A strong team player with self-motivation, proactive thinking, flexibility, and adaptability is necessary.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) is required.
- A self-starter with minimal supervision, able to identify problems and situations, and implement solutions or escalate as required.
- Assist in the planning and analysis in support of new construction for outside plant structures.
- Able to take notes and measurements of the proposed telecom equipment or site/s using measuring height sticks, measuring wheels and range finders
- Locate, sketch, and document detail information of OSP facilities: cables, poles, ground structures, terminals, manholes, and equipment.
- Identify ownership, right of way and permit requirements for proposed routes.
- Use experience and best judgement to identify issues and solve complex problems.
- Communicate and attend meetings with city, county and state permitting agencies
- Measurements must be drawn onto field maps and presented professionally to customer.
- Site drawings and construction drawings for various telecommunication facilities must be completed in a cost-effective manner
- Schedule and submit workload to meet critical engineering design due dates
- Ability to walk distances per day carrying equipment in all types of weather
- Ability to read and understand highway/road prints
- Knowledge of easement, right-of-way, and permit documents
- Represent the company on customer and other utility meetings
- Participate in and comply with company Safety Program and complete all training required
- Able to travel and stay overnight if project requires.
- Represent the company to the community with attention to the highest standard of conduct, appearance, and attitude
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as required or assigned by management
- Associate degree or higher in Engineering or a related field
- 4+ Years of telecommunication OSP experience
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Experience and understanding of OSP construction techniques
- Experience in OSP design of copper and fiber optic facilities in aerial, underground, and direct buried applications is required
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience with City, County, State, and Railroad permit application process
- Experience with coordinating pole attachment agreements with local utilities
- Experience with ILEC LSO fiber entrance application, scheduling, and implementation processes
- Able to travel and stay overnight if project requires.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects (example; manhole or handhole vault lids)
- Micro Station, Auto CAD and Microsoft Visio experience is a plus.
Company Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
- Must have a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record
- Must submit to background check and drug testing
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $22.00-$55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
