The ideal candidate will lead the night Metal Fabrication in planning, organizing, monitoring and assisting in fabrication, ensuring a smooth and consistent operation so parts are fabricated in an effective and efficient manner as needed to satisfy internal and external customer requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in the nightly coordination and oversight of metal fabricating parts for IEM:
• Record and assist with the movement of raw materials from the warehouse to fabrication and production in order to meet production demand
• Schedule the movement of parts from fabrication to other departments, if necessary
• Set up and maintain all metal fabricating equipment and systems
• Create, implement, and review work processes and procedures, identifying opportunities to improve work efficiency
• Report nightly via email to the supervisor regarding nighttime activities, incidents, damage, engineering questions, or unresolved issues. Additionally, communicate with the Day Shift Lead at the start of each shift and leave notes for the following morning
• Maintain a personnel structure and staffing levels necessary to accomplish the Metal Fabrication mission, including but not limited to:
• Training, assigning, scheduling, coaching and communicating job expectations.
• Planning, monitoring, and adhering to policies and procedures
• Understand and apply safety measures for applicable hazards related to the machinery and equipment used during work activities. Ensure these measures protect all personnel working on or near the work area while activities are being completed
• Apply IEM safety policies/procedures and Work Safe BC safety standards
• Understand and implement ISO policies/guidelines
• As required

Qualified candidates must possess:

• At least 5 years of work experience in metal fabrication; experience in a lead role is preferred
• Strong knowledge of fabrication machinery and equipment; experience with Amada, Boschert, and Euromac is preferred
• Ability to interpret, analyze, research and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Working knowledge of MS Office software (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and a commitment to quality
• Ability to work under pressure while keeping parts moving
• Proven ability to work well with others and be reliable
• Physically fit: must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs., and bend, squat, crawl, and climb
