The Mc Michael Canadian Art Collection ranks among Canada’s top public galleries in size and significance. The gallery, exhibition, and programming space, comprising 25,000 sq. ft., are surrounded by a network of outdoor trails, an outdoor sculpture garden, and 100 acres of conservation land with views of the Humber Valley. More than 7,000 works of art representing breadth and depth of the art of Canada are held in the permanent collection, and the gallery welcomes on average more than 115,000 visitors annually, with exhibitions touring across North America. The Mc Michael is an Agency of the Government of Ontario.
The Opportunity
The Mc Michael is seeking a full-time Executive Assistant who acts as the primary point of contact supporting the Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Mc Michael Canadian Art Collection. The Executive Assistant provides administrative support to the Executive Director and Chief Curator, and serves as Secretary to the Board of Trustees, arranging for remote and in-person meetings. This position is responsible for protocol and governmental requirements, managing visiting officials and internal relations to the Executive Director and Chief Curator, and working closely with the senior management team.
The successful candidate is friendly, energetic and outgoing, and will have at least three years’ administrative support experience, solid application of Microsoft Suite of products, remote meeting management, experience working with and responding to senior stakeholders, as well as excellent writing, communication and customer service skills, with a respect for confidentiality and attention to detail. Knowledge of the museum or broader cultural environment and experience working with Boards in the government / not-for-profit and/or cultural sector are strong assets. Knowledge of a second language, preferably French, is also a strong asset. Preference will be given to BIPOC individuals.
Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000.00 with health and dental coverage, OMERS defined-benefit pension, reciprocal attractions and social activities. This is an on-site position with some remote opportunities. Job description available upon request.
