We are looking for the right person who wants to make "dispatching & logistics management" a career, someone who is highly organized and detail-oriented, who can proactively solve unexpected problems when they arise, thrives in a “team” environment and possesses excellent communication skills.
Working as one member on a dispatching team, your primary responsibility during the “asphalt season” (typically May through early November) will be ensuring the efficient movement & on-time delivery of liquid asphalt products from production facilities to various destinations.
This is a demanding role during the asphalt season, where you can expect customer calls, text messages or email (to order a delivery) from early mornings into the late afternoons (and sometimes on Sunday for Monday morning deliveries).
Typically our asphalt drivers load late at night / very early in the morning, and make deliveries anywhere between 5 am & 9 am. If there is a snafu such as a driver reporting sick, a loading issue at terminal, etc., you would be the person receiving the call and solving the problem.
Load assignments are often organized 12 to 24 hours (or more) in advance of a delivery, being mindful of individual driver’s weekly schedule & available “hours of service”. Coordinating as necessary with the maintenance team to ensure that tractors & tankers are ready & available, is important as well.
During asphalt’s “off-season”, or during relatively slow periods, or when filling in while a colleague is away / on vacation, etc., you will be working with the rest of the dispatch team assisting with the dispatching of fuel & ethanol deliveries (very few asphalt loads are dispatched November through April).
