Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and creative Sushi Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Japanese cuisine, excellent knife skills, and the ability to craft high-quality sushi and sashimi. You will be responsible for preparing a variety of sushi dishes, maintaining high standards of food safety, and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sushi Preparation:

• Prepare sushi, sashimi, maki rolls, and other Japanese dishes using traditional techniques and fresh ingredients.
• Experiment with innovative menu ideas while maintaining authenticity.

2. Food Safety and Hygiene:

• Ensure all food is prepared, stored, and served according to health and safety regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including tools and kitchen equipment.

3. Ingredient Management:

• Select and inspect high-quality seafood and other ingredients.
• Manage inventory, order supplies, and minimize food waste.

4. Customer Interaction (if applicable):

• Engage with customers at sushi bars or counters, answering questions and creating a welcoming dining experience.
• Prepare made-to-order sushi with precision and efficiency.

5. Team Collaboration:

• Work alongside kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Train and mentor junior chefs or kitchen assistants in sushi preparation techniques.

6. Menu Development:

• Collaborate with management to create and update menu offerings, including seasonal specialties.
• Suggest creative plating and presentation ideas for sushi dishes.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a Japanese restaurant.
• Excellent knife skills and knowledge of sushi preparation techniques.
• Understanding of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
• Creativity and a keen eye for detail in food presentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of Japanese culture and culinary traditions.
• Familiarity with sake pairings and recommendations.
• Ability to prepare other Japanese dishes, such as tempura, ramen, or grilled items.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
