This roster is 8/6 and a 12-hour day.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Engineer – Drill and Blast you will be responsible to provide technical assistance to the mining operations department including the geology, survey, geotechnical engineering teams for the purpose of ensuring that safe and efficient mining practices are communicated and executed.

Your duties and responsibilities, although not restricted to will include the following:

Drill and Blast design and control including blast master creation utilising team collaboration

Prepare and present short- and medium-term open pit mining schedules to adhere with budget requirements

Optimisation of drill & blast processes with a focus on increasing operational efficiency

Support the Senior Mining Engineer with mine scheduling and budgeting

Ensure all new designs and updates are well communicated with relevant stakeholders

Liaise with stakeholders providing appropriate technical information to carry out the mine plan

Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports and reconciliations

Analyse production information to evaluate mine production against plans for continuous

improvement

Assist with a variety of mining projects from planning stage to execution

About you

You will be a motivated experienced mining engineer and have the desire to enhance your career at a dynamic and expanding mine site where innovation and ideas are encouraged and executed.

You will require the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Bachelor of Engineering – Mining or equivalent

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar engineering role in open pit mining

Exposure to long term planning (highly desirable)

Demonstrated experience in Open Pit Drill and Blast (advantageous)

The ability to build relationships with team members and across the wider business, displaying excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Perform well under pressure with the ability to adapt and find solutions to setbacks

Exceptional planning and organisation skills to meet required deadlines

Highly motivated and accountable to delivering results and meet KPI’s

Adhere to safety compliance requirements and follow instructions and procedures

Experienced user of Deswik and Shot Plus or similar

Competent user of MS Excel, Word and Power Point
