Job Description:

You will play a critical role in the successful execution of the Wastewater Treatment Project.

The Health, Safety, Environment & Social Procurement Coordinator will report to the Project Manager and State HSE Manager. The role is responsible for two key areas: (1) Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and (2) Social Procurement.
In the HSE capacity, the role involves managing workplace health, safety, and environmental systems, ensuring compliance with legislation, and meeting stakeholder needs.

Key responsibilities include risk management, workers' compensation, employee rehabilitation, safety awareness, and maintaining the HSE management system. The role also monitors project safety compliance, investigates incidents, and implements approved improvements to policies, procedures, and work methods.

As the Social Procurement Coordinator, the role supports the Project Manager in implementing the project's Social Procurement Commitment, focusing on objectives under the Building Equality Policy Actions for Women’s Equality and Safety and creating opportunities for disadvantaged Victorians, particularly young people.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement and maintain safety management systems.
  • Ensure legal compliance and execute safety reporting.
  • Conduct inspections, meetings, and task observations.
  • Support site teams, workers' compensation, and rehabilitation.
  • Communicate with employees and maintain documentation.
  • Stay updated on legislation and ensure data accuracy.
  • Conduct site visits, audits, and incident management.
  • Coordinate HSE training, inductions, and software usage.
  • Seek continuous improvement and industry updates.
  • Implementation of Social Procurement and Major Project Skills Guarantee commitments
  • Ensure compliance with Local Industry Development Plan
  • Coordinate the site’s Gender Equality Action Plan
  • Ensure compliance with Modern Slavery Policy
  • Ensure timeliness and quality reporting on project social procurement metrics and compliance

Qualifications:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in Construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and standards
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver HSE training programs.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Certified Safety Professional or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Experience in defence and/or water sector is an advantage
