JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the general maintenance of the gardens, plants and lawns at the Resort. And also maintain the beautification of the lawns and gardens in order to attract guests to hotels lush and green surroundings.
Complete operation of the irrigation system
SCOPE / BUSINESS CONTEXT
- A Full Time position based at Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa, The Luxury Collection.
- Number of Direct Reports – 2
- Titles of Direct Reports – Garden Attendant
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience.
- 3 years hotel engineering work experience
The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:
- Ensure the irrigation system is working in good condition, including the pump set & pump rooms.
- The garden team is dedicated to work effectively on a daily basis garden operation.
- Maintain the nursery to assure that it stay in good condition.
- Make sure all the STP Room are working in good condition and check the irrigation water chemical parameter on a daily basis.
- Make sure the garden area around the pools are rid of waste or garbage such as a polythene/plastics/ cigarette butts. Should give the look of an eco-friendly garden.
- Soil cultivation, digging, and forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, seed sowing, bed preparation and planting.
- The use and maintenance of hand tools and basic light machinery.
- The use of cylinder and rotary mowers, strimmer’s, leaf blowers.
- Adjustments of mower height and quality of cut, etc.
- Oil level checks and check for damage to any mower.
- Report equipment malfunctions to engineering as and when noticed.
- To be aware of Health and Safety requirements noting that all duties must be carried out to comply with current Health & Safety at Work legislation.
- To ensure all equipment, machinery is stored securely and clean after use.
- Plant and transplant flowers, shrubs, trees and lawns.
- Maintain gardens by naturally fertilizing, trimming and making sure that plants are receiving adequate irrigation water.
- Prune trees and hedges in ways that help the plants' health, are safe and look good.
- Maintain lawn and grass areas using machinery, natural fertilizers but no chemicals.
- To keep the gardens, thoroughfares and pathways clear and free from litter at all times.
- Pruning and cutting hedges.
- Outside maintenance including pathways, pond, steps, walls etc.
- Tiding up and cleaning outside of the main building/SPA & car parks.
- Keep the tool shed / store room clean and tidy.
- Good knowledge of plants must be organized and able to follow schedule.
- Ensure following areas around villas SPA building main board room building and pathways clean and tidy at all times.
- Ensure around guest rooms and pathway area sand levels are control if not inform to the manager to arrange necessary cleaning work.
