Arcadia Global School Al Furjan is seeking to appoint an experienced Deputy Health and Safety Officer to start in January 2025. The ideal candidate should have NEBOSH certification, to ensure that all health and safety protocols are being adhered to in compliance with KHDA guidelines.

Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, with school experience preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures
• Ability to implement health and safety management and control.
• Strong verbal and written English language skills.
• Excellent organisation and interpersonal skills
• Solid communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, proactively and as part of a team.
• Able to multitask and cope with a degree of pressure at peak times.

Core Responsibilities

• Assist the Health and Safety Officer in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local regulations and international standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of school facilities, equipment, and activities to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain documents for the same.
• Maintaining legal document trackers and coordinating renewals if required – with regards to Clinic, Canteen, Facility management team, external service providing academics and others.
• Coordinating HSE Committee site walks and preparing reports based on their findings.
• Conducting health and safety induction programs for newly joined staff.
• Co ordinating emergency evacuation and Lockdown drill. And preparing reports for the drills conducted.
• Collaborate with department heads, staff members to promote awareness of health and safety issues and encourage adherence to safety protocols.
• Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, and contribute to the development of recommendations for corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Maintain accurate records of health and safety inspections, incidents, training, and other relevant documentation.
• Stay informed about changes in health and safety regulations and best practices and assist in ensuring that the school remains compliant with applicable laws and standards.
• Provide support in coordinating with external agencies and authorities on health and safety matters, including inspections, permits, and certifications.
• Serving as a point of contact for health and safety inquiries, concerns, and emergencies, and respond promptly and appropriately to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals .
