Compliance Manager - EMEA

Job Summary
The Region EMEA Compliance Manager partners with local leadership teams of the countries assigned to help ensure that the subsidiaries comply with local, regional, and international laws, industry standards, and internal policies.
This role encompasses also basic legal topics in these subsidiaries.
This role will work cross-functionally at all levels in the subsidiaries to foster the culture of business integrity.
This role involves assessing local risks, implementing and fostering our compliance programs, managing local policies, providing training to employees including onboarding sessions, daily query management, planning and conducting compliance monitoring to evaluate effectiveness of our compliance program and supporting country managers to establish or improve solid processes.
In addition you cover data protection and take on the local data protection officer role.
You will conduct and lead local investigations of potential violations of our Group Code of Conduct including root cause analysis and supporting remediation as required.
The ideal candidate will have a legal degree, strong understanding of medtech legal/regulatory requirements, excellent communication skills, and the ability to foster a culture of compliance in the countries of scope.
The ideal profile would also have excellent analytical and pragmatic problem solving skills to identify legal issues quickly whereas
bringing attention to details while keeping the big picture, having the ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize effectively.
For this role we are looking for a candidate with at least 5 years experience of practicing law, preferably with focus on corporate law, commercial contracts and compliance in the healthcare sector with experience in multinational organizations for at least 3 years.
Key Responsibilities

Business Ethics / Compliance (Integrity):
- Ensure the company's operations meet regulatory requirements within the region, including local laws, industry standards, and company policies.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may affect business operations, inform timely and update policies and procedures accordingly for subsidiaries.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of regional legal/regulatory requirements related to data protection, anti-corruption, antitrust, anti-money laundering, supply chain compliance and other applicable areas.

Compliance Programs:
- Implement, and oversee compliance programs in the geographic area of scope, policies adaptation and updates, and procedures to mitigate risk and support line-management to ensure adherence.
- Develop regional-specific strategies for compliance and support the global compliance framework.
- Collaborate with different departments to integrate compliance practices into daily business operations.
- Support local procurement with supply chain due diligence queries and adherence to our External business partner Code of Conduct.

Monitoring/controlling and Investigations:
- Conduct regular internal compliance controls (monitor training completions, spot check of agreements for appropriate recipient and payment at fair market value etc.)
- Assess compliance risks and evaluate the effectiveness of current compliance programs in the subsidiaries of scope.
- Investigate compliance issues or breaches in countries of scope that were brought to your attention either directly or via the corporate compliance hotline and report findings to senior management, with recommendations for corrective actions. Report all investigations to the Group compliance manager to ensure central tracking of all allegations and outcomes.
- Support internal and our external auditors, regulators, and other third parties during audits or inspections as needed.

Training and Awareness:
- In collaboration with Group Compliance tailor Corporate compliance e- trainings to meet national legislation and develop ad hoc as needed refresher trainings based on knowledge or awareness gaps in the subsidiaries. Deliver training programs situatively also in classroom settings as well as via e-trainings to educate employees on compliance requirements, policies, and the company expectation of ethical conduct.
- Monitor training completion and foster solid training discipline for corporate defense.
- Foster a culture of compliance by providing guidance to employees and addressing any compliance-related questions or concerns.

Risk Management:
- Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies, propose and implement mitigation actions to minimize their impact on the organization.
- Contribute to Global risk management process from regional perspective.
- Bring multinational compliance issues to global Legal and Group Compliance attention.

Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintaining proper documentation of compliance-related activities, including training sessions, investigations, and policy updates.
- Contribute with data to the Annual Report by providing relevant regional information to the Group Compliance manager and Reg. Gen. Counsel.
Qualifications and Skills

Education:
-
Law degree from a reputable university, an additional LLM or experience in an international law firm – preferred.
Or a Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CCEP, CRCP).

Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Legal or Compliance with at least 3 years experience in a multinational organization or law firm.

Experience in the Healthcare industry (Pharma or Medtech) is beneficial.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to operate in a multinational and multifunctional environment and establish solid relationships.
- Proficiency in both written and verbal communication in Turkish and English.
- In-depth knowledge of regional laws, regulations, and industry standards, especially in depth knowledge of the Turkish legal system, laws and regulations are desired.
- Ability to propose solid problem resolutions that reflect our Integrity standards and support Management decision.
- Understanding of risk management and control principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and in simple terms to various stakeholders.
- Brings demonstrated leadership and management skills, with experience in building and leading compliance programs implementation in local sales organizations and to foster a compliance culture.
- Excellent analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify legal issues and propose practical solutions.
- Skilled in using compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
