In this Project Director position

JOB PURPOSE
Lead project management sub-function for the country and provide input to and lead the implementation of functional strategy to successfully manage and deliver projects while meeting the cost, timescale, and quality parameters in line with overall country level strategy, business objectives and needs, Group guidelines and policies.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develop project management strategy and direction for major projects and programs in line with overall country level strategy, business objectives and needs, Group guidelines and policies
• Champion technically accurate, timely, commercially-viable and customer-orientated strategic projects in line with DHL's interests
• Monitor and adhere to defined budgets and monitor all project related action and expenses (i.e. planning, sourcing, delivery of results)
• Drive pipeline prioritization, review project management and monitor project progress and status
• Lead identification of project risks and implementation of mitigation actions and resolutions in a timely manner
• Continuously re-evaluate and adjust project goals, ensure alignment with concurrent projects and support implementation of project results
• Monitor and report program/ project process, highlight any divergence from plans and communicate with key project stakeholders
• Sponsor the development and implementation of transformational change projects especially developing the function and expanding its service portfolio
• Build and develop understanding of customer requirements, suppliers, competitor activities and market trends to influence direction of major projects
• Develop and administer an effective governance structure to support project implementation at the country
• Serve as highest instance of escalation and advice in all project management matters for the country
• Drive targeted training measures on relevant project management topics and tools

STAKEHOLDERS

• Extensive contact and negotiating with other departments and 3rd parties with conflicting objectives
• Influence and challenge key stakeholders effectively
• Develop strong, trusting cross-functional relationships with senior DHL business leaders
• Influence others across DHL and externally as an internally and externally recognized thought leader representing the Group
• Champion cooperation and partnership to provide integrated solutions to problems

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

• Lead multiple teams of lower level executives, directors/senior managers, and managers
• Develop short to long-term (1-5 years) plans for optimizing the organization, function, or job-family and the talent required to execute strategies

• Master’s Degree or equivalent experience/qualification
• More than 8 years within the same field

• Excellent communicator in English, both written and verbal.
