1. COMPANY
Viação Alvorada, a transport company with around 1,000 employees, part of one of the most technologically attractive urban mobility projects in Portugal, is currently recruiting a DWH Developer for our headquarters in Queluz. The selected candidate will report to the Computer Systems Management Department, assuming the following responsibilities.
2. DETAILS
The Hybrid SQL DBA and Data Warehouse Developer will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of SQL Server databases to ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of critical business applications. Will have a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data warehouse solutions that support BI and analytics.
3. DAILY ACTIVITIES
· Monitor SQL Server environments for performance issues, security threats, and potential failures.
· Respond to alerts and incidents promptly, troubleshoot issues, and implement resolutions.
· Perform routine maintenance tasks such as database backups, index maintenance, and statistics updates.
· Optimize SQL Server performance by analyzing query execution plans and tuning database configurations.
· Review and enforce security policies and access controls to protect sensitive data.
· Monitor disk space, memory usage, and CPU utilization to ensure optimal resource allocation.
· Document database configurations, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
· Develop and test scripts to automate database administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
· Collaborate with development teams to optimize database schemas, queries, and application performance.
· Stay informed about SQL Server updates, best practices, and industry trends.
· Design, develop, and maintain data warehouse structures, including star and snowflake schemas, optimized for performance and scalability.
· Develop and manage ETL processes using tools to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources.
· Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and indexing strategies.
· Work closely with BI developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and ensure the data warehouse supports these objectives.
· Investigate and resolve issues in the data warehouse and ETL processes promptly.
4. THE REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years’ experience working as a DWH Developer or DBA.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems.
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools.
• Familiarity with BI tools.
• Solid understanding of data modeling techniques, including dimensional modeling and normalization.~
