Job Description

• Lead the Safety team in OHS compliance (regulatory and internal programs) through ongoing audits and inspections focusing on continual improvement
• Promote health, safety, and environmental awareness in order to prevent injuries and/or damages
• Ensure all OHSC members under Safety Section duly participate in performance management and conduct safety meetings
• Lead and coach the team of safety professionals to deliver an effective and interactive service to the operation and provide leadership in maintaining/implementing ISO certification
• Conduct internal audits on previous incident investigations to assess the effectiveness of corrective actions and facilitate the review of incident investigations using ICAM methodology

Qualifications

• Behaviour consistent with Oceana Gold Corp. Values and the Oceana Gold Way
• Qualifications in Mining or any related engineering course
• 5 years of experience in mining operation/or mine safety work
• With underground mining experience
• Completed the Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training
• In-depth understanding of the Mining Act and Regulations
• Familiar with internally accepted health and safety standards
