Strait NZ Bluebridge is looking for a Passenger Terminal Assistant Manager to join our team in Picton. This role will assist our Operations Manager and play a key part in delivering exceptional service and operational excellence.
What you will be doing:
As the Passenger Terminal Assistant Manager you’ll be at the heart of our terminal operations, ensuring smooth day-to-day activities and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Coordination
- Develop and publish rosters two weeks in advance for terminal staff.
- Process payroll tasks and manage HR documentation within deadlines.
- Order PPE and uniforms for team members.
- Organise and minute passenger terminal meetings.
- Address customer complaints originating from Picton, escalating when necessary.
- Manage refunds, compensation applications, and staff travel bookings.
- Support service disruption management plans and contribute to process improvements
- Collaborate with the Picton Freight Operations Manager to optimise port operations.
- Liaise with Port of Marlborough NZ to maintain terminal operations and facilities.
- Build effective working relationships with internal teams across Wellington, vessels, and head office.
- Manage relationships with third-party suppliers, ensuring quality service delivery.
- Monitor staff headcount against budget and assist in recruiting for seasonal peaks.
- Plan and track staff leave balances to meet operational needs.
- Support onboarding and training plans for new and current staff, ensuring core competencies and safety practices are met.
- Assist in behavior and performance management procedures, including documentation.
- Uphold privacy standards for customer and employee data.
- Champion health and safety policies, fostering a strong safety culture.
- Lead incident reporting and ensure compliance with H&S systems.
- Maintain high presentation standards of terminal facilities, coordinating cleaning and maintenance.
- Contribute to achieving Zero LTI (Lost Time Injury) rates and support injury rehabilitation processes.
- Participate in training and upskilling opportunities as needed.
About You:
We are looking for a seasoned professional with strong skills in customer service, people leadership, and administration. You will be:
- Experienced: 3+ years in an operational or assistant leadership role, preferably in logistics or transport.
- A Proven Leader: Skilled in coaching, motivating, and developing teams while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
- Organised and detail-oriented: Capable of managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and ensuring quality outcomes.
- A People Person: Able to connect with a diverse range of personalities, ensuring smooth communication and alignment.
