Service Manager (Social Care Leader grade)

PA & Home Support Service, Co. Mayo

Job Brief
The successful applicant will join the growing home support service to deliver on the vision for people they are supporting. The manager will lead and manage the service and be responsible for ensuring a person-centred approach to service delivery. They will have overall responsibility for the service including management, supervision, coaching and development of the staff team and budget management. Developing relationships with persons being support, their families, advocates and the wider community as appropriate will be key to the management role.


Candidate Requirements

• Relevant experience working in a management capacity including management of staff in a setting for people with disabilities, or other relevant management experience preferable
• Knowledge of the Draft Home Support Regulations and other necessary regulatory requirements essential
• Have excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of teamwork with motivation to deliver high quality facilitation, working alongside individuals, their families and other disciplines
• Proven experience of working with people on the Autistic spectrum is desirable
• Successful candidate will have experience in the area of facilitating and supporting people who have high and/or complex needs
• A genuine understanding and interest in working alongside people in effecting positive opportunities and change in their lives in a meaningful way
• The ability to listen, to see and respectfully advocate for and on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs, preferences, rights and wishes
• Practical IT skills, including word and excel

Qualification Details

• An appropriate 3rd level qualification in Social Care, or equivalent.
• please note your qualification must be eligible for CORU registration

• Relevant management qualification
• Previous experience in a similar position in the social care sector is desirable

Other duties involved - (duties included but are not limited to the following)

• Contribute to and participate in the local service planning process and the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service.
• Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association's Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirement.
• To promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association's practices.
• Use positive approaches to support people who may have behaviours of concern in line with Organisational practice.

Other Requirements

• Full driver's license is essential
• All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks
• All applicants from Countries outside the E.U. will be required to provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in Republic of Ireland. This must be submitted along with Application.
• All applicants will be required to access Overseas Police Clearance if they have lived outside of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland more than 6 months since the age of 18 years

Salary Scale
Social Care Leader Pay Scale (Scale Range €50,670 to €59,546 per annum)

• this is based on full time working hours i.e. 39 per week
