Anthesis is the sustainability activator. Proud to be a B Corp, we seek to make a significant contribution to a world which is more resilient and productive. We do this by working with cities, corporates, investors and other organisations to drive sustainable performance. Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities
Summary of Role
Our Senior Consultants are highly client focused, and closely involved in both the gathering, synthesis and informed analysis of project inputs, and in project management.
Alongside this, many in our team contribute to our long-term growth through organisational development and line management responsibilities.
As a Senior Consultant you would typically be line managed by a Principal Consultant or an Associate Director. While you will not always be working on projects with your line manager, their role is to help you guide, support and manage your performance and growth in Anthesis.
In most project engagements, you would be supported by a more experienced senior as the project lead.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities fall into three major areas:
- Project Management – managing the delivery of agreed consulting engagements / projects on time, on budget, and to high standards of quality.
- Research & Analysis – gathering, synthesising and analysing sometimes large and diverse information-inputs, both qualitative and quantitative, primary and secondary, in pursuit of project objectives.
- Client Relationship Building – earning the confidence and trust of client teams, and representing our direct clients’ interests effectively inside their organisations.
- Deliverable Drafting & Presentation – preparing and delivering high quality reports, presentations, and sometimes workshops in line with project scope.
- Key Account Development – helping to guide and support deeper and longer-term partnerships with valuable and impactful clients over time.
- Proposal / Bid Writing & Presentation – discussing, framing, designing, pricing and presenting project proposals (with the guidance and support of colleagues)
- Thought Leadership & Marketing – supporting the team and wider business in lead generation and brand-building through the creation of IP and marketing materials
- Training & Personal Development – using the ACE (Anthesis Centre of Excellence) learning and development platform, and guided by your line manager.
- Line Management – supporting more junior colleagues to guide and manage their growth and performance within Anthesis.
- Strategic & Organisational Initiatives – contributing to important internal initiatives, proposition development and innovation.
- Recruitment – contributing to growing the team through recruitment
Key Requirements, Skills Knowledge & Expertise
Key Requirements
We believe that great contributors can come from various backgrounds, and we welcome those shifting into the sustainability space from adjacent fields. As guidance, at this level, we’d typically look for:
- 3-8 years’ experience in strategy consulting, or related consulting discipline (such as innovation, organisational design, change management).
- Or 3-8 years’ experience in-house, in a related organisational function / field.
- ESG / sustainability focused experience is strongly preferred, but not essential for those who bring other relevant skills.
- However, awareness and familiarity with the key concepts, issues and frameworks of sustainability and ESG is expected.
- Experience working in or with the financial sector is preferred.
- Good working familiarity with MS Office Suite is required, with high levels of numeracy and good Excel skills preferred.
- Strategy consulting is a demanding and multifaceted discipline, and great candidates will display a blend of different strengths. We don’t expect everybody to be great at everything, but in general, we value team members who are:
- Purposeful: values driven, and motivated by a desire to make a positive difference to the wider world through their work and careers.
- Strategic: the ability and drive to bridge complex, granular business situations into smart, clear, and actionable approaches to the future, through research, analysis and imagination.
- Curious: an inbuilt drive for continuous learning and growth across many domains, including sustainability topics, industries, clients and new skills.
- Collaborative: a ‘we’ not ‘I’ focused team player, who enjoys collaborating with colleagues and clients with diverse backgrounds and personalities, and contributing to shared success.
- Flexible: high levels of adaptability, with the capacity to adjust to new situations and challenges swiftly and effectively. Comfortable with conditions of ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Resilient: confident to cope with a demanding and sometimes high-pressure working environment, and with an ability to bounce back strongly from inevitable setbacks.
- Organised: disciplined, conscientious, reliable and responsive in the face of a sometimes complex and fast-moving workflow.
- Ethical: honest, open and trustworthy, with the highest standards of integrity in conduct towards colleagues, clients and collaborators.
- Proactive: the drive and confidence to anticipate and raise issues, and take the initiative where necessary, in a ‘high-permission’ team culture.
- Communicative: a clear and persuasive communicator, with the ability to distil and convey complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to adapt communication style to difference audiences and settings.
