Position Summary
Applications are invited for the post of Post-Doctoral Researcher or Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher (depending on experience) with the DATAMITE EU Project and within the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics. The post will be based at the School of Computer Science & IT, University College Cork, Ireland. This is a 12-month contract position: the award ends 31.12.25.
This position is highly interdisciplinary as it supports the advancement of data monetisation and fair AI models. The main focus is to investigate new approaches for dataset bias detection and mitigation. The successful candidate will contribute to the standardisation of dataset monetisation.
DATAMITE (Data Monetization, Interoperability, Trading & Exchange) is a European initiative to empower companies to monetise better, trade, and exchange data through an open-source, multi-domain framework. It offers software modules, training, and business resources to boost both internal and external data monetisation. Internally, DATAMITE helps companies enhance data quality, adhere to FAIR principles, and provide upskilling in technical and business areas, increasing data reliability in fields like AI. Externally, the framework enables data control, creating new revenue channels and supporting interactions with other stakeholders. DATAMITE will be tested in six pilot programs across agriculture, energy, manufacturing, and climate sectors, demonstrating its interoperability through scenarios including intra-corporate exchange, data trading among data spaces, and integration with EU data initiatives. The project, supported by 27 partners across 13 countries, brings together key stakeholders, communities, and legal experts to ensure compliance and facilitate open-source community engagement and standardisation.
The nature and structure of the Phase 2 SFI Research Centre programme allows for Post-Doctoral Researchers to work and gain valuable experience in a varied & research-rich environment where you may gain experience, where applicable, working with SME’s, MNC’s, H2020 projects as well as basic platform research within the Insight Centre for Data Analytics programme.
The successful candidate will be based in the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics at the University College Cork. The candidate will be supported in their professional development, be able to avail of a range of career-level focussed training opportunities and have the potential to publish research findings in leading journals and international events.
About Insight
The Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics (http://www.Insight-centre.org) is an SFI funded Research Centre that brings together researchers within University College Dublin, NUI Galway, University College Cork, and Dublin City University, as well as other partner institutions, Trinity College Dublin (TCD), University of Limerick (UL), Maynooth University (MU) and Tyndall National Institute. It creates a critical mass of more than 400 researchers in Ireland's leading ICT clusters to carry out research on a new generation of data analytics technologies in a number of key application domain areas, such as Health and Human Performance, Smart Communities, Internet of Things, Enterprise and Services and Sustainability and Operations.

Salary: €44,847 - €51,313 per annum, (IUA PD1 Scale) / €52,715 - €57,332 per annum, (IUA PD 2 Scale)
