Universität Kassel
Research Assistant (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, Department of Water Ecology in Landscape Planning , Institute of Landscape Architecture & Landscape Planning
Kassel
PART TIME
December 3, 2024
At the University of Kassel, Department of Architecture - Urban Planning - Landscape Planning, Institute of Landscape Architecture & Landscape Planning - Department of Water Ecology in Landscape Planning (Prof. Dr. René Sahm), the following position is available as soon as possible:
Research Assistant (m/f/d), EG 13 TV-H, fixed-term position, part-time (currently 30 hours per week)
Application deadline:
31.12.2024
Date of hire: as soon as possible
vacancy number: 37962
Part-time position with 75,00 Percent of the regular working time of a full-time employee. This is a fixed term-position of three years with the possibility of extending the contract (position for academic qualification corresponding to § 72 Hess HG i. V. m. § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 1 Wiss Zeit VG; opportunity for Ph D project).
The position is designed to investigate current planning-relevant topics in (running) water restoration and -maintenance at the level of biocoenoses (in particular invertebrates as indicator species) in a process-oriented manner, in order to derive possible management measures improving the ecological status of freshwater systems and thus achieve the objectives of the Water Framework Directive. In this context, inter alia reduced discharge or drying up of running waters in anthropogenically altered but also in near-natural sites (as possible reference sites for the assessment of freshwater ecosystems), as well as measures for the restoration of streams and rivers (e.g. restoration of the natural sediment structure and dynamics) are of special interest.
In the context of already existing and planned measures at water bodies, a scientific monitoring should be established. Besides changes on the level of the biocoenosis, food webs and material fluxes are of interest to be analysed by means of stable isotope analysis. Since running waters in particular are strongly coupled to their terrestrial environment by a multitude of processes, it is also important to consider biotic interactions between the water body and its floodplain in order to identify possibilities for biodiversity conservation of running water landscapes in general.
