As an Inventory Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our client's financial records, processes, and controls.

Responsibilities:
Inventory Accounting Responsibilities
- Manage and reconcile inventory accounts, ensuring accurate recording of inventory costs, including purchases, returns, and adjustments.
- Monitor inventory movements and conduct regular inventory counts to verify physical stock aligns with accounting records.
- Record and adjust for inventory shrinkage, obsolescence, and damaged goods.
- Prepare and analyze inventory-related journal entries, including cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations.
- Maintain and update inventory valuation methods (FIFO, LIFO, or weighted average) to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure proper tracking of stock and timely reporting of inventory discrepancies.
- Generate and analyze inventory turnover ratios and other key performance indicators (KPIs) to support financial decision-making.
- Prepare inventory schedules for monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
- Support audits by providing detailed inventory documentation and reconciliations.
- Assist the team in applying strong accounting fundamentals, including journal entries, debits and credits, accounts payable and receivable.
- Support the team in managing cash and bank book entries, ensuring a clear understanding of the differences between cash and accrual basis of accounting.
- Assist in performing bank reconciliations using Excel, helping to verify the correct starting balance and ensuring that discrepancies are resolved.
- Help record general entries, including sales with discounts, and assist in reconciling discrepancies between expected and actual payments.
- Work with the team to prepare and analyze entries related to assets, liabilities, and capital accounts, ensuring all data is compiled accurately.
- Help maintain accurate records by entering financial transaction details and ensuring that all documents are properly accounted for.
- Collaborate with the team in analyzing accounting options and assisting with recommendations for financial actions.
- Support the team in collecting data and preparing financial reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other necessary documents to summarize the company's current financial status.
- Help audit financial transactions, substantiating documents and ensuring compliance with accounting policies.
- Work with the team to assist in maintaining accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures that align with company standards.
- Assist in guiding and coordinating accounting clerical staff by answering questions and helping them with daily tasks.
- Help reconcile any financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing relevant account information.
- Assist in securing financial information by performing necessary database backups and ensuring information is properly protected.
- Support the team by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions, ensuring all entries are accurate.
- Help in producing and reviewing error-free accounting reports, ensuring that results are presented clearly and accurately.
- Work alongside the team to analyze financial information and summarize the company’s financial status to inform decision-making.
- Assist in reviewing accounting systems and recommending improvements or modifications to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial procedures.
- Collaborate with the team in setting financial standards and assisting in the forecasting process to ensure effective financial planning.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and budgets according to company timelines and goals.
- Assist in the coordination and preparation for internal and external audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Assist in planning, assigning, and reviewing the work of staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
- Help support the team during month-end and year-end close processes by ensuring that all financial data is properly recorded and reviewed.
- Assist in developing, documenting, and updating business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Collaborate with the team in utilizing Quick Books and Xero for day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring proper usage of accounting software.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA certification is a plus).
- Advanced Excel Skills (Vlookup sum if, sum ifs, Hlookup, etc.)
- US GAAP Knowledge or Familiarity with U.S. regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
- Any global software knowledge such as Navision, Xero, Axapta, Oracle, etc.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and software.
- Experience with inventory accounting and costing methods.
- Knowledge of conducting and reconciling physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Strong understanding of inventory valuation and reporting in compliance with accounting standards.
- Experience collaborating with operations, supply chain, or warehouse teams to align inventory accounting with operational processes.
- Maintain up-to-date records of inventory quantities, descriptions, and costs, ensuring all inventory movements are properly tracked.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile with system records to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
- Ensure seamless integration between inventory management and accounting systems for accurate financial reporting and stock valuation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify risks, assess controls, and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with complex financial data and documents.
- Familiarity with local, state, national, and international laws and regulations, ensuring compliance.
- Proficiency in planning and executing operational and financial procedures to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, working both independently and collaboratively.
