Cochlear Medical Device (Chengdu) Co., Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cochlear Co., Ltd. in China. It was established in Tianfu New Area, Chengdu, Sichuan Province in September 2017. As Cochlear's only manufacturing site in China, it mainly produces cochlear implants and sound processors, providing professional assistance to the hearing impaired in China and other markets

In order to help Cochlear bring products to market that help people with hearing loss, we are recruiting to support the new manufacturing site in Chengdu China.

Position Overview / Purpose 职位概述/目的
As the head of the technical department at CCD, this role is responsible for formulating the site's technical development strategy, ensuring the construction of product technical capabilities for the Chengdu site, and the effective transformation of product technical requirements. Lead the team in the introduction of new products, new processes, and new equipment. Responsible for the establishment of the site's manufacturing lines and process systems, and lead the team in their maintenance, validation, and re-validation, continuously supporting efficient production in the manufacturing area through the management of daily manufacturing lines and process improvements.

Collaborate with manufacturing team, process engineering team, operations excellence team, R&D team, and regulatory affairs team on new product development, product improvements, and/or product transfers, including type testing of site products and their registration in the target market.

Lead the team in planning and implementing corrective and preventive actions related to processes and production in Chengdu's factory, ensuring the effective operation of the quality system.

Plan and implement training related to equipment and process systems in Chengdu's site, ensuring the implementation and effectiveness of the training.

  • To maintain efficient and productive manufacturing support to the production areas through implementation and management of day-to-day production equipment and process improvements.

  • Leads the Manufacturing Support Team in establishing product technical capabilities and translates product technical requirements into CCD.

  • To interact with Manufacturing、Process engineering & Operational Excellence and R&D in the development of new products, product improvements and/or product transfer.

Accountabilities 主要职责:
  • You will be overall responsible for the Manufacturing on yield improvement, scrap reduction and process optimization. 全面负责生产制造环节的良率提高,报废降低以及生产工艺的改善。
  • Lead complex and technical investigation and be accountable to provide solution to identified production problems.复杂的技术问题的调查,并为已发现的生产问题提供解决方案。

  • Develop the technology strategy road map for the manufacturing network in order to support the introduction of new product, the transfer of products within the manufacturing network and to maintain Cochlear manufacturing competitiveness.工厂的技术发展战略,以支持新产品的引进和产品的转移,以保持科利耳集团生产竞争力。

Key Incumbent requirements 任职要求:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering field or equivalent discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in medical device manufacturing environment

  • At least 8 years of team management experience, with a team size of no less than 5 people.

  • Fluent in English language, both written and oral

  • Working exposure to CAPA, NCR, Concession, etc is essential for this role.

  • Exposure to product life cycle & product transfer process in a medical device manufacturing environment.

  • MUST have demonstrated "hands-on" experience with all facets of production, people, machines and processes.

  • Working experience in precision assembly/ Silicone Injection Molding/ Laser Welding/ Resistance Welding is highly desirable for this role.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing external auditors in a manufacturing environment i.e TUV, FDA, TGA, etc.

  • Has the ability to build a healthy partnerships with cross-functional partners, business units, and/or sites to achieve common goal.
