School Program Growth and Quality Manager

The School of Health and Wellness houses a mix of 14 industry-relevant programs, with current enrollment of more than 1000 students. In this pivotal role, you’ll be at the forefront of expanding and enhancing RDP’s programs, contributing to workforce growth in the health sector across Alberta and Canada through providing high-quality education and training for skilled graduates in diverse roles.

• Environmental Scans and Consultations:
  • Complete scans and consultations with external stakeholders to identify new program opportunities.
  
  
• Program Development:
  • Facilitate program development with key stakeholders such as academic leadership and colleagues in RDP’s Centre for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship.
  • Manage projects for new and re-imagined programming by leading a project team including faculty, a supervising consultant and directing day-to-day operations.
• Market Research and Proposals:
  • Conduct market research on student and workforce demand (provincially, nationally and internationally).
  • Prepare program proposal budgets.
  • Submit proposals for approvals by institution and Alberta’s Ministry of Advanced Education.
• Curriculum Development and Review:
  • Promote learner-centered delivery models.
  • Resolve issues related to learner success, in collaboration with school leadership.
  • In collaboration with Associate Deans, faculty and colleagues in RDP’s Centre for Teaching, Learning and Scholarship, regularly assess curriculum to ensure fulsome program review and alignment with regulatory body requirements.

• Graduate degree from a recognized institution in a discipline related to program or curriculum development

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in post-secondary curriculum design and/or program development which includes:
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the pedagogy of post-secondary education
  • Proven success in developing, implementing and assessing curriculum and educational programs
• Proven knowledge and experience in preparing proposals for grants, funding agency support or government approval.

• An inclusive leadership style.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering the principles of learner-centeredness.
• Proven ability to navigate ambiguity with capacity to manage change and a demonstrated ability to drive innovation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Progressive academic leadership experience involving direct supervision of post-secondary faculty members (including recruitment and selection; development and coaching; performance assessment and management).
• Demonstrated understanding of health care simulation and experience in supporting simulation learning environments.

Salary

This role has a salary range of $101,408 - $123,262 and is an Exempt Management role.

Focused on advancing the economic and social priorities of Alberta, Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) provides more than 80 industry-relevant programs within a breadth of credentials to approximately 10,000 credit, not-credit, and apprenticeship students.

RDP is a leader in unique programming, creating career pathways in high-demand sectors, including health care. As one example of recent program growth, the Polytechnic is the first post-secondary institution in Alberta to offer an accelerated Practical Nurse diploma. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Diploma is the latest program to be added within the School of Health and Wellness, where the first group of students will begin in Fall 2025 Term. Through targeted investment from the Government of Alberta, RDP’s enrollment in various nursing programs (among other RDP programs that also received funding) is set to grow by almost 300 students through to 2025. Graduates of programs within the School of Health and Wellness create meaningful careers in diverse workplaces across Alberta and beyond, as well as within the Central Alberta Region including a planned expansion of the Red Deer Hospital.

With modern teaching and learning spaces, and state-of-the-art research and innovation centres in advanced manufacturing and energy innovation, the Polytechnic provides applied research opportunities, leadership in the social, economic, and cultural development of Alberta, and myriad lifelong learning opportunities.

A historic gift of $20 million received in February 2024 from the Donald Family, who are long-time supporters of RDP, has led the Polytechnic to establish the Donald Family Institute for Healthtech Innovation. The Institute will support innovation in health care, healthtech programming and applied research through various means.

RDP’s main campus is also home to the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre. Through a partnership that is one-of-a-kind in North America, both organizations collaborate to help support youth and families who have experienced abuse and trauma. This social innovation ecosystem exemplifies one of the four main areas of focus for RDP within the organization’s Strategic Plan, providing education, training and applied research opportunities for learners, faculty and staff to contribute to the wellbeing of people and communities across Alberta and beyond.
