About your opportunity:
In this position you will deliver high level Occupational Therapy clinical services within Cairns Hospital including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED) and Surgical inpatients/outpatients with appropriate community liaison as directed by the Director of Occupational Therapy whilst providing leadership and mentoring to assist in the ongoing development of Occupational Therapy services within the Cairns Hospital primarily within Acute Care, linking with other allied health practitioners in relevant clinical areas as directed by the Director of Occupational Therapy.
About your role:
Utilise high level professional and clinical knowledge, expertise, clinical decision making, organisational and risk management skills to enhance safe and efficient service delivery on a daily basis, across the continuum of care.
Apply professional judgement and problem solving to a complex acute caseload across multiple specialties including ICU, emergency medicine, surgical, burns and plastics adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence.
Provide high level evidence based Occupational Therapy clinical advice to multidisciplinary and Occupational Therapy teams to ensure services are patient centred, integrated and efficient.
Initiate, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of Occupational Therapy services including the review of clinical practices, workplace procedures and protocols in line with directions of the Department.
Provide high level clinical advice to professional and operational supervisors, relevant service managers and other stakeholders including non-government organisations and remote community agencies within Far North Queensland, regarding service delivery and complex discharge planning on a regular basis and with infrequent need for supervision.
Provide direction, clinical practice supervision, education, mentoring and assisting with core competency training and skill development to less experienced Occupational Therapy practitioners, allied health assistants, support staff and students within scope of practice guidelines to ensure the development and maintenance of professional clinical standards.
