• 
  Support the Chief Compliance Officer to improve and maintain day to day to running of the Compliance team, to ensure the execution of strategic priorities, efficient decisioning and execution of tasks.
• Support to the South Africa (SA) specific activities across Global Businesses, Global Functions, and jurisdictions within the second line of defence (SLo D), to obtain reasonable assurance that the business is operating in line with relevant laws, regulations, codes and HSBC Group Standards within Financial Crime Compliance.
• Engagement with Local Regulators and industry bodies on regulatory change impacting HSBC and any regulatory reviews/request.
• Ability to interpret law changes and implementation through the revision of policies and procedures on Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, and Fraud, Assisting with the reporting obligation to the regulatory authorities.
• Adhere to risk steward responsibilities such as risk identification, mitigation and internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
• Stakeholder management skills with a strong track record of establishing credibility and delivering results.
• Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and people management skills, ability to work in a dynamic working environment.

• 
  A proven understanding of financial institutions, regulator, risk manager or compliance officer. Credit risk and ability to apply a structured approach to risk assessment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with customers and external parties.
• Ability to challenge the business and senior management on Financial Crime Risk issues.
• Proven critical thinking, personal organizational and time management skills.
