Dental Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our growing dental practice in Durban North. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations by providing exceptional support to the dentist and an excellent experience for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Assistance:
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following hygiene protocols.
- Assist the dentist during procedures, including handing instruments and materials as needed.
- Take and develop X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Mix and prepare materials for dental procedures (e.g., fillings, impressions).
- Patient Care:
- Welcome patients and prepare them for treatments, ensuring their comfort.
- Provide pre- and post-treatment instructions to patients.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and build a rapport to enhance the patient experience.
- Administrative Support:
- Schedule appointments and manage patient records.
- Process payments and coordinate with medical aid schemes, where applicable.
- Ensure all supplies are stocked and order inventory when necessary.
- Hygiene & Safety Compliance:
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of dental tools and treatment areas.
- Adhere to occupational health and safety protocols.
- Required:
- Completion of a Dental Assistant training program.
- Registration with the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa) as a Dental Assistant.
- Proficiency in dental terminology and basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and safety regulations.
- Preferred:
- Prior experience in a dental practice setting.
- Familiarity with dental software systems.
