The Japan Equity Analyst/PM is responsible for performing deep diligence and valuation of Japanese corporates as part of a small and cohesive investment team. This role requires deep fundamental analysis and valuation skills across a broad range of industries. The analyst will work closely with other members on the Japan Equity team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The successful candidate is a fundamental investor with experience analyzing and investing in companies. The successful candidate will join a small, cohesive, and high-performing Japan Equities team. The candidate must demonstrate a strong fit with the team, and ability to embrace the team's investment philosophy and process.

This is an important role with several key responsibilities, including:

Conduct in-depth analysis of potential investment candidates. This will include gaining a detailed understanding of the drivers of returns and valuations for the business in question and financial analysis based on detailed financial modelling.
Present company and industry analysis to the team, and clearly articulate and debate the key drivers of the business and valuation.
Actively engage in debates and discussions of stock and portfolio ideas from other team members.
Contribute to portfolio construction and stock position discussions.
Working with members of other focus teams to leverage expertise and work across the equity platform.
Support the marketing effort as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for the following experience:

Around 8-10 years’ investment experience as an equity analyst
Strong and appropriate academic qualifications – preference for postgraduates
CFA Charter holder would be an advantage
Strong valuation understanding and skills as part of a valuation driven process
An understanding of behavioral finance
Demonstrable contribution to strong investment performance
